While the finer points of the city's illustrious history do remain intact, Gay Charleston has boldly stepped into the Twenty-First Century in areas of commerce, environmental protection, art, education and regional development. As exemplified with the inception of the country's first Livability Court in 2002, the largely progressive attitude of the region has breathed new possibilities into the quality of life for Gay Charleston.
