Savannah is a vibrant, living city creating history every day.
For ten years, I have had the privilege of reporting this history for public radio. During this time, I have interviewed hundreds of people for stories I’ve done on the city’s arts, news and culture.
I now have put this knowledge to work for visitors by becoming a licensed tour guide in the City of Savannah.
My regular tour is a two-hour walk through the Savannah Historic District. Beginning at the city’s waterfront, we make our way down tree-shaded streets to cover the broadest possible cross-section of sights and topics on our way to Forsyth Park:
--Bustling commercial areas and quiet residential streets
--Formidable and creative personalities and their homes
--The Revolutionary and Civil Wars
--African-American and Jewish history
--Historic preservation and contemporary issues
--Architectural details you otherwise might miss
Of course, since I’m a news reporter Monday through Friday, I only offer my tours on the weekends and other times when I’m not working. Call anytime, however, to make your reservation.
