What do we do at Smart Feet? We carry arch supports, socks, cushions, shoes galore, devices for sore toes, hammertoes, etc.. We can stretch your shoes and we have skin care products. We are really good at helping diabetics. We are Certified Pedorthists (if you don't know what that is, click "Pedorthics").
Smart Feet Savannah came about because we, Carole Romig and Carol Kirchner, wanted our foot problems solved! Every item we sell has been tested, not just put on the shelf.
For instance, Carole R has extremely high arches, peripheral neuropathy, weak ankles, metatarsal fractures, plantar fasciatis, Morton’s foot, heel spurs on each heel and callusing. She loves to walk for exercise. Carol K has the flattest feet known to man or woman, Morton’s neuroma, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, leg length differences, plantar fasciatis and callusing. Ursula G has a square forefoot, extremely high arches, plantar fasciatis and peripheral neuropathy. Dana S didn’t know she had any “problems” until she put on an arch support and realized how fatigued her feet had been. And you know what? No doctor ever told us about any of the things we have in this store. We were determined to feel better and kept following the scent (no pun intended).
Does this mean we only have orthopedic and disability shoes and other products? NO! We carry fantastic shoe lines, such as Naot, Propet and Spira. We know what can prevent problems in the future, including things like falling and hip fractures. Women have twice as much incidence of knee osteoarthritis and replacement than men and there is a very simple explanation for this as well as a simple way to reduce one’s risk. Men who have been in athletics where they wore cleats have a higher incidence of metatarsal fat pad damage and there is a simple explanation and simple way to treat it as well as a way for young athletics to prevent the damage. Just ask us!
Carole Romig and Carol Kirchner are Certified Pedorthists. We received our education at Oklahoma State University at Okmulgee and our certifications are in good standing. Formal education, however, is a foundation, not the full structure. It is the combination of education, experience and the willingness to try to new things that sets Smart Feet Savannah apart.
